It was time for a change, I couldn’t stand looking at myself in the mirror; and I felt terrible and extremely out of shape. I knew that I had to make a change before it was too late, but I knew I wouldn’t have been able to do it without some help.

I signed up with Platinum Fitness after being recommended by a fellow coworker and a regular client at the gym. The gym is fantastic: clean, friendly and the staff are wonderful; always trying to work with you and make you happy. 

Before working with Shayne, I had no self-confidence, no knowledge on how tow work out safely or effectively, and I didn’t think I would have been able to achieve anything, but Shayne changed that!

I have more muscle mass and strength than I have ever had and my body has changed dramatically in just a few short months. I have never felt better or healthier and I am excited for new things in my life. 

Since the results were fantastic with Shayne, I bought another 6 months of sessions with him to achieve more and to learn more as I know Shayne has way more to show me. He has made a huge impact on my life, and has made exercising and weight training something I look forward to every day. I couldn’t have done it without him!

My experience at Platinum Fitness has always been great. This gym is clean, the equipment is in working order and when not, management is doing their best to get it fixed. The atmosphere is always positive, and the convenience of being able to enter the gym 7 days a week 24 hours a day is a bonus. The folks in here really are happy in a sincere way to see me walk through the doors. This gym has become a part of my life and thoughts as I go through every day.

I started coming to the gym in May of 2012, I was 51 at that time and I thought at that age I better start looking after myself a little better. I had looked at a few gyms in the city, but really hadn't found a home yet. Platinum Fitness matched my wants and needs. I took on a personal trainer in June 2012. After working out at the gym and watching the trainers at work, I thought I could benefit from one. I figured if I was going to work out, I should not take the chance of hurting myself, or waste my time doing ineffective exercises. 

Working with Feras has been nothing but a win, win situation for me.  I still have some bad habits, but using a trainer I have learned a lot about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. He has changed my thought process and the way I eat as well. Since the time I walked through the doors at Platinum Fitness until now, I've seen many changes in myself. Physically, I've never been in better shape since being a teenager playing sports. Mentally and emotionally, I have noticed a difference in a positive way. 

As my health and fitness gains just keep getting better, I learn a few more things about myself and life. It may sound cliché but it really is amazing how powerful the human brain is. Platinum Fitness has woken my brain up, quite a bit.  When I first came to the gym, I didn't have the confidence in myself that Feras did. He has pushed me to areas of my work out that I wouldn't have challenged myself to do.

Personal training is something that really does help, and I would recommend it strongly.

Platinum fitness has been the driving force that has enabled me to get in shape and stay in shape. The staff are very knowledgeable and encouraging, and offer the training and confidence that it takes to keep me motivated and moving forward. The personal training program at Platinum Fitness has taught me how to work out properly, safely and with confidence. This was the biggest obstacle for me, as a person new to the gym environment, to overcome. The facilities are clean and the equipment is state of the art. I look forward to all of my visits to Platinum Fitness and will definitely be a member for years to come.

When I joined Platinum Fitness, I was not totally new to fitness but I had trouble with my motivation in the past and began gaining body fat and had become unhappy with myself.  I knew it was time for me to make a change and I knew that fitness and exercise would help.  I hired a personal trainer as I knew this was the missing piece for me to finally get motivated to stay on track.  

Working with a personal trainer has benefitted me greatly in living a healthier lifestyle and reaching my goals.  Feras has helped me to perfect my form, taught me how to eat healthy, and helped me to make fitness such a huge part of my life.  Since working with Feras I’ve lost approximately 20lbs of mainly body fat.  I feel healthier, more confident, my clothes are fitting better, I’m sleeping better, and I always look forward to the intensity of my training sessions. 

I would strongly recommend personal training to others as my personal trainer is one of the most important people in my life.  He has helped me to make as well as achieve many goals in my life, with more to come!

Since finishing university and the part time jobs that went with it my lifestyle became very sedentary. I jumped from a size 8 to a size 14. I had pretty much resigned myself that that was how I would be. My boyfriend Matt was the main reason I decided to try to get in shape. He really wanted to be in better shape and I knew that it would be easier for him if I did it too. That way we would be able to support each other.

I saw a poster for a 12 week personal training program at Platinum Fitness and I saw an opportunity for us both. I called the gym to inquire and we came down that evening to sign up. I feel that wanting to be in better shape is a pretty common desire, but so is feeling completely intimidated about walking into a gym with all the people who knew what they were doing. At least that is how I felt about going to a gym. I didn’t have a clue about what I should be doing; I didn’t know how to use the equipment or what exercises would be right for me or how often I should do certain things.

Working with a personal trainer made going to the gym attainable. While it wasn’t easy, having a personal trainer to coach me along kept me coming back; also having a set appointment meant that I had to go as I was accountable to someone else as well as to myself. After the first few weeks going to gym became part of my routine and I was coming in more and more on my own as well as my training appointments. Also learning different exercises each week meant that I wasn’t always doing the same thing. Talking about nutrition with my trainer was also an important aspect of my training. While I tend to eat relatively well to begin with I wasn’t getting enough protein and I tended to fall off the wagon with my eating sometimes. Every week I knew Mark was going to ask me how I was doing? I didn’t want to have to tell him I ate a cheesecake or something ridiculous; again it was the accountability thing helping my progress.

Having a personal trainer helped me to get past the intimidation I felt about going to the gym as well as allowed me to challenge myself more than I would have if I was just working on my own.

Working with Mark I lost 18 pounds in 3 month and I am no longer resigned to being a size 14. I feel better about myself and generally have more confidence. Some of my old clothes fit again; some of my ‘fat’ clothes don’t fit anymore; I couldn’t be happier.

I have recommended my gym and the trainers there to pretty much everyone who has asked me about my weight loss. I couldn’t have done it without them.

When I started at Platinum Fitness I began working with Shayne as my trainer.  I realized that I needed help and could not achieve some of my goals on my own.  I had exercised in the past and the results that I wanted were not coming with what I was doing.  


The work Shayne and I have done together has made me feel better about myself overall and the success encourages me to keep going.  I am more motivated to make healthy choices for nutrition and activity and I really enjoy being able to choose clothing in a smaller size than when I started.  Shayne is a great listener and he has helped me to understand that my age shouldn’t affect my ability to exercise and eat well; he has helped me to see my potential. 

Improving my health and fitness has motivated me to no longer sit back and accept what life brings; I want to choose what I bring to my life.  I feel strong, healthy and ready to take on challenges that I haven’t wanted to before.  I feel better about myself overall and am proud of what I have accomplished so far and I know that I can keep improving.  This has helped me to realize that setting goals in all areas of my life such as work, family, travel, and recreation is important, particularly as I age.
